People using essential oils for allergies is growing. There are a lot of allergy sufferers today, and it seems the wide variety of allergies is ever expanding. There a many medications to help alleviate the symptoms of allergies and to get you back, but more and more people are looking for more natural ways to treat illnesses, promote health, and to reduce the effects that an allergy has on their daily activities.
Essential oils are wonderful for so many different reasons. They’ve provided us with the benefits of aromatherapy, can lift our moods and treat a number of ailments. They’re also a great way for those with allergies to reduce or even prevent reactions without worrying about the side effects of medications. Here are just a few essential oils and how they can help.
Lemon Essential Oil
Lemon oil can help with respiratory ailments and can help eliminate bacteria and allergy triggers in the air flowing through our homes and businesses. Add it to a diffuser for release into your environment to help stop allergies in their tracks, or use as an inhalant with steam to help unclog mucous from the lungs.
You can also use lemon oil to help fight grease and stains if you find that a regular stain remover is causing irritation to your skin. Simply add a few drops to your detergent, or dilute with water and spray on stains before laundering.
Tea Tree Essential Oil
Tea tree oil is one of the essential oils that can be used in a mind boggling variety of ways. It’s great for use on skin as a treatment for rashes or hives. If you have sensitive skin, simply dilute your tea tree oil with coconut oil or any other carrier oil that you have on hand.
Because tee tree has antimicrobial properties, it’s great for use in the battle against bacteria, fungi and airborne yeasts, which are often triggers for an allergic reaction. Use tea tree on a cloth to wipe down furniture, or dilute in water and spray as a freshener.
Basil Essential Oil
Probably a lesser known or used oil compared to some of the others on this list basil. It is wonderful in the use of reducing inflammation brought on by a response to allergens.
Basil is a great support for the adrenal glands and like tea tree will kill bacteria, mold and yeast which can trigger asthma and respiratory ailments. One of the best essential oils for allergies.
Peppermint Essential Oil
Use peppermint oil in a diffuser to help clear sinuses and relax nasal muscles.
To help reduce or help prevent inflammation, it’s recommended to take 1 to 2 drops orally a day.
For aches and pains, peppermint can be applied directly to the problem area. Dilute into a carrier oil for sensitive skin.
