What Is Food Allergy?

The symptoms of wheat allergy are similar to those of other food allergy symptoms. It's when the body's immune system overreacts to something either eaten or in the environment.

I believe because of processing and GMO wheat, more people are at greater risk to develop an allergy to a larger variety of foods and this includes wheat. Even organic wheat and breads can trigger an allergic attack.

I was eating wheat in large amounts and it actually put me in the hospital with tremendous stomach cramps. It wasn't Celiac disease symptoms but close enough for me to take a closer look at my diet.

I then learned about GMO and how wheat is processed. I cut my wheat intake down by 75% and actually lost over 35 lbs. and have kept it off.

If you think you have a wheat allergy or have exhibited symptoms of wheat intolerance it's best to talk to your doctor or allergist. These kinds of food allergy symptoms can be potentially life threatening due to Anaphylactic shock so it's best to get professional help.

The doctor or allergist can perform a series of tests to determine the root cause of the allergy and treat it accordingly.

Kids with food allergies seem to be more prone to exhibit wheat allergy symptoms. It's important for parents to check food labels and monitor what their children eat. Sometimes the manufacturers change the labels so take nothing for granted.

There are many foods that are exempt or aren't covered by the FDA allergen labeling laws. It's also written in the law that "many consumers may not realize the ingredient is derived from, or contains, a major food allergen" because some of the names food manufacturers use may be unfamiliar to consumers.

The word "Wheat" must be on the label if the food product is regulated by the FDA.
